Three men in their 20s and 30s were found dead after apparently committing suicide together at a bed and breakfast in Wonju, while another is in critical condition, authorities said Monday.

The bodies were discovered by the B&B owner Sunday night, and the survivor was rushed to a nearby hospital, said Eom Jae-cheong, chief crime investigator at Wonju Police Station in Gangwon Province.

A brazier containing dying embers and a suicide note were also found in the room.

The four had driven to Wonju from different parts of the country in two cars, one of which was a rental, Eom said.

Authorities were investigating cell phone records to find out how the four met, and they planned to carry out an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, Eom said.
