Actress Sung Hyun-ah was found guilty on charges of prostitution and sentenced to a fine of 2 million won ($1,930) on Friday.
The Suwon District Court also dismissed the 39-year-old actress’s request for a full trial, saying her client, identified only as Chae, had already acknowledged his illicit relationship with her.
The court sentenced a fine of 3 million won to Chae on charges of paying her money in return for sexual favors.
Sung was indicted in December last year for allegedly receiving 50 million won($47,000) from Chae, a wealthy businessman that she reportedly met three times for sexual intercourse in 2010.
Sung married businessman Heo Eun-gyo in December 2007 but divorced in 2010. She married another businessman six years her junior in just three months after the divorce.
She was a runner-up at the Miss Korea pageant in 1994. She appeared in numerous Korean TV dramas and films, including the mega-hit TV drama Hur Jun and renowned film director Hong Sang-soo’s movie, Woman is the Future of Man.
