MUNGYEONG, South Korea, Oct. 7 (Yonhap) — Male judoka Lee Seung-su and wrestler Kim Jin-cheol won the second and third gold medals for host South Korea at the world military athletic competition here Tuesday.
Lee defeated Russia’s Aslan Lappinagov by an ippon in the men’s under-81kg final at the KAFAC Indoor Sports Complex, bringing home the second gold on the fifth day of the Military World Games.
Kim beat Vladimir Kudrin of Kazakhstan 3-1 to reach the top podium in the men’s freestyle 57㎏ category at Mungyeong Indoor Gymnasium.
Also on Tuesday, Korean judokas Lee Min-hyuk won a silver in the men’s under-100 kg final and Kim Hyung-ki won a bronze in the men’s under-90 kg event.
South Korea also grabbed one bronze medal in the men’s sabre fencing individual and another in the trap shooting team events that day, jumping to the fourth position from the seventh in the medal standings.
The Games will end Sunday.
