SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) — Comedians Yoo Jae-seok, Kim Byung-man, Kim Gu-ra and Lee Hwi-jae have taken the top honors in South Korean entertainment for 2015.
Yoo shared the grand prize with Kim Byung-man at the 2015 SBS Awards Festival on Wednesday for hosting the terrestrial network’s variety shows “Running Man” and “Same Bed, Different Dreams.”
“Even though I had said I wanted to win the grand prize, I knew ‘Running Man’ had come short of our viewers’ expectations,” he said in his acceptance speech. “The entire ‘Running Man’ staff is trying to change that. We’ll try to make up for it next year.”

Kim Byung-man was awarded for his roles in SBS reality shows “Law of the Jungle” and “Shaolin Clenched Fists.”
“I wanted this prize in order to reward our hardworking staff,” he said. “Even though we all got injured during filming, they always let me get treated first.”
Yoo’s “Same Bed, Different Dreams” co-host Kim Gu-ra was consoled with MBC’s grand prize on the same day.
“I’m so happy and will never forget this moment,” Kim said. “Despite being a troublemaker in the broadcasting community, I was able to win this prize, thanks to you.”
Kim stirred controversy in the summer for divorcing his wife of 18 years. His wife has been rumored to have 1.7 billion won (US$1.4 million) in debt, which Kim said he would take care of.
Yoo, meanwhile, failed in his endeavors to capture his sixth MBC grand prize.
Lee Hwi-jae was awarded the top prize at KBS for his appearances in the Sunday variety show “The Return of Superman” and his hosting of the state broadcaster’s health program “Vitamin.”
“I started comedy in high school without a solid plan,” he said. “When I started to work at TV stations, I saw there are so many talented people. I gave up on winning a grand prize eight years ago.”
“I dedicate this honor to my twin sons and wife,” he added.
